Three Reasons Men’s Spa Services are Important

The number of men visiting spas is continually on the rise, and it’s no surprise with the numerous mental and physical benefits they receive through massage, facial and body treatments. Men’s wellness and grooming is not only a current trend, but extremely important to the overall health of both mind and body. Here are some reasons men should consider routine spa treatments (a perfect Father’s Day gift!).

  1. Physical Wellness
It’s no secret that most men carry a high level of tension. From workouts, stresses at work and the burdens of daily life, the pressure men carry is often overlooked through the lens of masculinity. It’s important to recognize the need for a life with balance, and a visit to the spa is the perfect way to take a break and unwind.

A personalized massage, this treatment focuses on specific areas of need to help reduce strain on muscles, increase range of motion and provide a warm-up to activity. This massage will leave him feeling relaxed, with gained mental and physical balance.

  2. Mental Wellness
Physical wellness is just part of the spa-going experience. A treatment at The Spa ~ Los Gatos can help to improve energy levels and even reduce the production of the stress hormone, cortisol. All of this can promote much needed relaxation, provide the chance for a mental reset and most importantly, reduce stress levels.
  3. Grooming
Men’s skincare is a rapidly growing industry. With the distress that comes with daily life, including shaving, sun exposure and aging, men are exposed to multiple opportunities for permanent damage to their skin. A proper skincare routine can make a lasting difference in both their personal and professional appearance.

The Gentleman’s Relaxing Facial is an excellent place to start. Customized to each client and their skin’s unique needs, this facial provides a broad selection of options to deliver optimal results. Through a deep cleanse, exfoliation and masque, the Gentleman’s Relaxing Facial improves, refines and replenishes existing damages to the skin. Followed by an invigorating neck, shoulder, face and scalp massage, this treatment is truly the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation.

Staying Happy, Healthy & Grounded Throughout the Holidays

The holidays are a time for celebration and happiness with family and friends. And yet, between the shopping, decorating, hosting and attending of parties, it can take a hectic turn, having an impact on both our emotional and physical health.
A few tips for taking care of yourself and enjoying the holiday season:

Plan Ahead.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. But by planning ahead and creating time frames for tasks and events, you’ll be more likely to enjoy the season. This mental preparation avoids you being overwhelmed and allows you to approach a sometimes-hectic time with a sense of calmness.

Make rest and relaxation a priority.
It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep can do for your mood, frame of mind and overall health. Proper sleep promotes a strong immune system that will help you fend off the common cold or flu during the holiday season. It also alleviates stress, which often times accompanies this time of year.

In addition to sleep, take time to relax. After a long day of holiday prep, relax with your favorite scented bath bomb, spend a few minutes of meditating or watch a classic holiday movie with the family.

Take time for yourself.
The holiday spirit is about caring for family and friends around you. But at times during the festivities, you spend so much time thinking of others, you can forget to take care of yourself. This can lead to added stress during a time that is supposed to be joyful.

Throughout these busy months, allow yourself to maintain your regular routine. Whether it involves yoga, meditation, book clubs or spin class, give yourself this down time to destress. When you’ve completed the day’s holiday to-dos, take an hour or two for a manicure, facial or massage.

Start putting these tips in place now to enjoy a happier, lower-stress holiday season.

The Rhythms of Fall

Lower Your Stress to Enjoy Your Life

September offers an excellent time of year to take stock of where you are in your life. The rhythm of life starts to have a certain cadence with school starting back up and the summer activities slowing down. As we fall in step with this changing rhythm, it’s the perfect opportunity to make sure we are heading in the right direction!

Stress is a big factor for many people. Much of how deeply it affects our health and happiness is, surprisingly, decided by us. One of the goals we have here at The Spa is to help our clients realize that they have a good amount of control over how much stress hits them. While we admit there are things that are indeed out of our control, how much energy we spend worrying creates more stress.

How do you perceive where you are in your life right now? Are you pleased with the efforts you make and the results they bring? Do you allow yourself the time to relax and take care of yourself so that you don’t keep spiraling to being more stressed instead of less? If you really look at where you stand right now, most likely you’re pretty ok. Allow yourself to realize that and remember to try to be in the moment of where you are – not worrying about what is coming or what has already happened.

This September take a step back before the holiday season hits. Are you respecting and nurturing yourself in the big and small ways? If the answer is “I don’t think so”, make a plan to start. Do the little things first, make sure you dedicate yourself to them, and soon you’ll find that you have stopped walking the path of stress and started in the direction of wellbeing!
